Barcelona Victor Osimhen transfer talks heat up as the Catalan giants identify the Nigerian striker as Lewandowski’s long-term successor

Barcelona Victor Osimhen transfer speculation is gaining momentum after reports from Mundo Deportivo revealed that the reigning La Liga champions have identified the Nigerian forward as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski, who is expected to leave at the end of the current season.

Barcelona are planning ahead for the 2026/27 campaign, with the search for a new centre-forward topping their transfer priorities.

Club insiders reportedly see Osimhen—now starring for Galatasaray—as an ideal long-term option capable of leading the Blaugrana attack in the post-Lewandowski era.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that while Barcelona are actively studying the striker market, there are no negotiations at this stage.

“It’s true that Barcelona are monitoring several strikers, and Osimhen is one of them,” Romano stated. “However, he’s not in talks with any club right now. Barca are gathering information and preparing for future moves.”

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray permanently from Napoli earlier this year after a prolific loan spell, has continued his stunning form in Turkey.

The 26-year-old scored 37 goals in 41 appearances during the 2024/25 season, prompting Galatasaray to break their transfer record by paying €75 million to secure his signature until 2029.

The Barcelona Victor Osimhen transfer would, however, present a significant financial test.

Osimhen reportedly earns €15 million annually, alongside €1 million in loyalty bonuses and €5 million in image rights.

Galatasaray would also demand a hefty transfer fee, potentially complicating any deal given Barcelona’s well-documented financial restrictions.

Adding an interesting twist, Romano disclosed that Osimhen’s contract includes a clause preventing him from joining any Italian club for the next two years—a condition imposed by Napoli—but it does not affect clubs outside Italy, leaving Barcelona free to explore a potential bid in 2026.

Barcelona have also been linked with other striking options, including Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Dusan Vlahovic, Serhou Guirassy, and Karl Etta Eyong, as the club seeks to rebuild its frontline under manager Hansi Flick.

With Lewandowski now 37 years old and increasingly struggling with injuries, Barcelona’s pursuit of a new striker signals a strategic transition.
