Thierry Henry says many fans don’t want Arsenal to win the Premier League despite a nine-point lead over Manchester City

Former Thierry Henry has claimed that “a lot of people” do not want Arsenal FC to win the Premier League this season.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, the ex-France striker noted that while Arsenal currently sit nine points clear of Manchester City FC with seven matches remaining, the Gunners may not enjoy widespread support.

“I wanted them [Liverpool] to win the league because I wanted Jamie [Carragher] to win the league, Stevie G [Steven Gerrard] to win the league,” Henry said. “Whether I like Liverpool or not, you root for the underdog, the team that couldn’t do it, or failed to win the league. But a lot of people don’t want Arsenal to win the league.”

Arsenal look increasingly likely to end their 22-year title drought, but Henry’s remarks underscore a perception that their success may not be universally celebrated among football fans.
