Arsenal F.C. secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night to strengthen their position in the Premier League title race.

Title rivals Manchester City F.C., who have a game in hand, were held to a 2–2 draw by Nottingham Forest F.C. at the Etihad Stadium.

The decisive moment arrived in the ninth minute when Bukayo Saka marked his 300th first-team appearance with a composed finish.

Saka received the ball from Jurrien Timber on the right flank, cut inside and struck from the edge of the area.

The effort deflected off Carlos Baleba and slipped through goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen’s legs to give Arsenal an early lead.

Brighton nearly punished Arsenal inside two minutes. A misplaced pass from David Raya allowed Baleba to lift the ball over the stranded goalkeeper.

Gabriel, however, recovered superbly to head clear from the goal line.

The home side responded with urgency and enjoyed sustained spells of possession.

Brighton pressed for an equaliser, roared on by the Amex crowd, but Arsenal remained disciplined and compact at the back.

Arteta’s team absorbed pressure with maturity and limited Brighton to few clear-cut chances.

The visitors’ defensive organisation proved pivotal in preserving the slender advantage.

The Arsenal Brighton Premier League win could carry significant weight as the campaign enters its decisive stretch.

Saka’s landmark appearance underlined his growing influence. The England international now boasts 148 goal contributions in 300 games for Arsenal, comprising 79 goals and 69 assists.

Arsenal now turn their attention to the FA Cup, with a fifth-round tie away to Mansfield Town on Saturday.

That fixture is followed by a Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash in Germany against Bayer Leverkusen next Wednesday.
