Anthony Gordon has revealed that he initially struggled to believe Barcelona’s interest was genuine before a phone call with head coach Hansi Flick convinced him the proposed move was serious.

“For a while, I didn’t believe Barcelona deal was real. I told my agent: ‘Yeah, yeah, OK…’,” Gordon said.

The England international admitted that he did not initially take the possibility seriously enough to become heavily involved in discussions.

“I didn’t show much interest because I didn’t think it was that serious,” he said.

That changed after Gordon received a phone call from Flick.

“Then I had a phone call with Hansi Flick, and that’s when I knew it was real!” Gordon said.
