Adidas South Africa 2026/27 kits unveiled ahead of World Cup and WAFCON, celebrating national unity and 12 official languages

Adidas has unveiled the new South Africa national football team and South Africa women’s national soccer team kits for the 2026/27 season ahead of the FIFA World Cup and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The redesigned jerseys retain South Africa’s traditional yellow and green colours while introducing a striking pattern inspired by the country’s 12 official languages.

In a joint media release on Tuesday, Adidas and the South African Football Association said the new strip draws inspiration from the iconic 2010 World Cup jersey.

“Drawing inspiration from the unforgettable 2010 jersey, a symbol of pride during a defining moment for South African football, the new design honours that legacy while stepping confidently into a new era,” the statement read.

The updated kit pays tribute to South Africa’s linguistic diversity. Subtle graphic elements woven into the fabric symbolise the many voices that unite in stadiums at home and abroad.

Tom Brown, Senior Marketing Director for Adidas South Africa, explained that the 2010 jersey featured 11 small lines in the collar to represent the country’s official languages at the time.

“This design is re-imagined for a proud new era, with a pattern that now reflects the 12 national languages on the national jersey,” Brown said.

Adidas became the official kit supplier for Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana in late 2025, replacing Le Coq Sportif.

South Africa secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup, to be staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico, despite being docked three points during the qualifying campaign for fielding an ineligible player.

Banyana Banyana are scheduled to compete at WAFCON in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, while Bafana Bafana will represent the nation at the World Cup in June and July in North America.
