FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed on Wednesday that all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup will be sold out, despite tickets still being available ahead of the tournament’s June 11 kickoff.

“The demand is there. Every match is sold out,” Infantino told CNBC.

Speaking from President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Infantino said FIFA had received 508 million ticket requests in four weeks for roughly seven million available tickets.

Requests during the main sales phase in January came from over 200 countries.

“(We’ve) never see anything like that — incredible,” he added, noting that FIFA had kept some tickets back for a last-minute sales phase beginning in April and running until the World Cup ends on July 19.

Addressing concerns about ticket prices, which have reached record levels on resale platforms, Infantino said the “exorbitant” costs reflected the tournament’s North American host countries.

“I think it is because it’s in America, Canada and Mexico. Everybody wants to be part of something special,” he said.

Infantino explained that dynamic pricing in the US allows ticket costs to fluctuate and that resale on official secondary platforms also affects prices.

The FIFA president estimated that the first 48-team World Cup would generate more than $11 billion in revenue, with every dollar reinvested in football across FIFA’s 211 member nations.

He highlighted the tournament’s broader economic impact on the US, estimating $30 billion in tourism, catering, security, and related investments.

Infantino projected that 20 to 30 million tourists will attend alongside seven million spectators and that the event would create 185,000 full-time jobs.
